The Microsoft SharePoint 2010 Enterprise Search training course provides a series of hands-on labs, presentations, and videos that demonstrate how to enable high-end enterprise search with Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 and Microsoft FAST Search Server 2010 for SharePoint. Use these labs to learn about deployment, search administration, monitoring, analytics, defining the end-user experience, federated search, people search, linguistics, and more.   • Connectors and Using Business Data Connectivity Services in SharePoint Server 2010. This module covers the Microsoft FAST Search Server 2010 for SharePoint content feeding architecture and connector framework and the FAST Search Server 2010 for SharePoint connectors. In the hands-on lab exercise, you will configure a search center to also search content external to SharePoint. To achieve this, you will create an external content type by using Microsoft Visual Studio 2010, deploy it to SharePoint Server, configure search for this new component, and then perform some queries to confirm that your connector is now available for search.
  • Advanced Search Security for SharePoint Server 2010 and FAST Search Server 2010 for SharePoint. This module reviews security concepts in Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 and Microsoft FAST Search Server 2010 for SharePoint including item-level security and the FAST Search authorization process. The module examines ways to enhance user profiles to improve people search and customize the people search experience. The hands-on lab guides you through the process of enhancing user profiles to improve people search.

This module focuses on the deployment process for Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010, the topology options available, how to get the most out of cross-farm services, and takes you through the installation and configuration process of a multi-node SharePoint Server 2010 deployment.
  • Relevancy and Ranking for FAST Search Server 2010 for SharePoint. This module covers how to perform common relevancy tuning tasks for Microsoft FAST Search Server 2010 for SharePoint. Learn to create and configure business-based ranking, rank profiles, and analyze the rank log.
  • Advanced Deployment and Scalability for FAST Search Server 2010 for SharePoint. This module focuses on the different elements that make up Microsoft FAST Search Server 2010 for SharePoint. Learn to use the redundancy and scalability options available in FAST Search Server 2010 for SharePoint to determine when to use single or multiple server installation.

  • Upgrading from SharePoint Server 2010 to FAST Search Server 2010 for SharePoint. This module describes the advanced search features provided by Microsoft FAST Search Server 2010 for SharePoint and walks you through a single server deployment.
