Installation Instructions

  • Do one of the following:

    • To view the document immediately, click the Download link to start the download and then click Open or Run this program from its current location.

    • To copy the document to your computer for use within the Update Services Microsoft Management Console snap-in:


      1. On the computer running Windows SBS 2003 R2, close the Server Management console if you have it open.

      2. Browse to %systemdrive%\Windows\Help and locate the file sbsR2.chm.

      3. Right-click sbsR2.chm and then click Rename.

      4. Rename sbsR2.chm to sbsR2.OLD.

      5. On this web page, click the Download link to start the download and then click Save or Save this program to disk.

      6. Save SBSR2.exe to a location on your server.

      7. Double-click SBSR2.exe to unzip the contents.

      8. At the prompt, click Yes to copy the files to your computer.

      9. In the WinXip Self-Extractor dialog, browse to %SystemDrive%\Windows\Help, and then click Unzip.

    If you are unable to view the .chm file when you click Open then try the download again but select Save and choose where you want to save the .chm file. Then use one of the following methods:
  • Method 1
      • Double-click the .chm file.
      • In the Open File-Security Warning dialog box, click to clear the Always ask before opening this file check box.
      • Click Open.
  • Method 2
      • Right–click the chm file, and then click Properties.
      • Click Unblock.
      • Double-click the .chm file to open the file.
