Key updates for SharePoint Server 2007 include:

This update applies to the following products:

• Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, 64-bit edition
• Microsoft Office Project Server 2007, 64-bit edition
• Microsoft Search Server 2008, 64-bit edition
• Microsoft Search Server 2008 Express, 64-bit edition

This update applies to 64-bit versions of the above products. If you are using the 32-bit version of a product, do not install this update. Instead, install:

• Infrastructure Update for Microsoft Office Servers (KB951297).

The update will install properly if either of the following are true:

• The 2007 Microsoft Office servers Service Pack 1 (SP1) is installed (Recommended).
• The 2007 Microsoft Office servers Service Pack 1 (SP1) is not installed.

Supported Windows Installer Version: Windows Installer 3.1 or greater

Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 includes Windows Installer 3.1. Windows Installer 3.1 is also available as a separate download at the following location:

• Windows Installer 3.1 Redistributable (v2)

The installation of updates to the 2007 Microsoft Office servers involves a series of steps which must be completed in the correct sequence for the installation to be successful. It is strongly recommended that you read the Microsoft TechNet article “Deploy Software Updates for Office SharePoint Server 2007” on how to deploy server updates before attempting to install this update. The steps in this document are also applicable for Project Server 2007, Search Server 2008 and Search Server 2008 Express.
