This issue may occur after you install the Internet Explorer hotfix from the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

331596 Data Is Truncated When You Download a Gzip-Encoded Excel File in Internet Explorer

and then you perform the following procedure:

  • Log on to a Web page that contains gzip-encoded content.

  • Reload the content from the cache.

Note: The hotfix that is described in Knowledge Base article 331596 is included in Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 (SP4).
