Dynamics 365 Report Authoring Extension is required to author custom Fetch-based reports for Dynamics 365 for Customer Engagement by using SQL Server Data Tools.
The Dynamics 365 Report Authoring Extension is required to author custom Fetch-based reports for Dynamics 365 customer engagement by using SQL Server Data Tools. Report Authoring Extension is a plug-in that obtains the metadata and data from Dynamics 365 customer engagement.
This version works with the following Dynamics 365 for Customer Engagement versions:
- Dynamics 365 for Customer Engagement (online), version 9.0 or later version
- Dynamics 365 for Customer Engagement on-premises, version 9.0

Operating Systems: Windows 10
Install Dynamics 365 Report Authoring Extension on Windows 10.
One of the following Microsoft Visual Studio and SQL Server Data Tools combinations are required:
- Microsoft Visual Studio 2019 and SQL Server Data Tools.
- Microsoft Visual Studio 2017 and SQL Server Data Tools.
- Microsoft Visual Studio 2015 and SQL Server Data Tools.

Note:
- Dynamics 365 Report Authoring Extension is available only in a 32-bit version.
- The Dynamics 365 Report Authoring Extension also installs Windows Identity Foundation.
Installation Instructions
If you have an earlier version of the Report Authoring Extension installed, uninstall it before you download and install the Dynamics 365 (online), version 9.0 Report Authoring Extension.
- To start the download, click Download.
- To save the file to your computer, click Save, specify a location, and then click Save again.
- Navigate to the folder where you saved the downloaded, and double-click the exe file.
- Select a folder to store the extracted files, and click OK.
- In the Extraction Complete dialog box, click OK.
- Navigate to the location that you extracted the files to, and double-click setupbidsextensions.exe.
- Follow the instructions that are on your screen.
