Microsoft SQL Server Migration Assistant (SSMA) for DB2 is a tool to automate migration from IBM DB2 database(s) to SQL Server, Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Database Managed Instance.

• SQL Server Migration Assistant (SSMA) is a free supported tool from Microsoft that simplifies database migration process from DB2 to SQL Server, Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Database Managed Instance. SSMA automates all aspects of migration including migration assessment analysis, schema and SQL statement conversion and data migration.
  
  This download includes a GUI client based application to manage migration process. The GUI client will install functionalities in SQL Server, Azure SQL Database or Azure SQL Database Managed Instance to emulate DB2 features not natively supported by the target database.
  
  SSMA for DB2 is designed to support migration from DB2 on z/OS versions 9.0 and 10.0, DB2 on Linux/Unix/Windows (LUW) versions 9.7 and 10.1 and DB2 for i version 7.1 and higher to SQL Server 2012 through SQL Server 2019, Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Database Managed Instance.

  Requirements for the SSMA for DB2 client:
  • Microsoft Windows Installer 3.1 or a later version.
  • The Microsoft .NET Framework version 4.7.2 or a later version. You can obtain it from the .NET Framework Developer Center.
  • The Microsoft OLEDB Provider for DB2 version 6. You can obtain the provider as part of the Microsoft® SQL Server® 2017 Feature Pack here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=55992
  • Access to and sufficient permissions on the computer that hosts the target instance of SQL Server.
  • 4 GB RAM.

• After the download, you must install SSMA for DB2.
  
  Installing the SSMA for DB2 Client
  1. Double-click SSMAforDB2_8.12.0.msi.
  2. On the 'Welcome' page, click Next.
  3. If you do not have the prerequisites installed, a message will appear that indicates that you must first install required components. Make sure that you have installed all prerequisites, and then run the installation program again.
  4. Read the End User License Agreement. If you agree to the terms, select "I accept the agreement" option and click Next.
  5. On the 'Choose Setup Type' page, click Typical.
  6. Click Install.
