Critical Update for SQL Server 2016 MSVCRT Prerequisites (KB3164398) |
This update refreshes the Microsoft VC++ 2013 Runtime binaries, which are installed as a prerequisite by SQL Server 2016
Microsoft has identified a problem with the Microsoft VC++ 2013 Runtime binaries, which are installed as a prerequisite by SQL Server 2016. Without this update to the VC++ Runtime binaries, it is possible that SQL Server 2016 may experience stability issues in certain scenarios. Microsoft previously published KB3138367 (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3138367) updating the Microsoft VC++ 2013 Runtime binaries. If you previously installed KB3138367, this update (KB3164398) is not required. After you install this item, you may have to restart your computer.
