This guide compares the architecture and implementation of VML and SVG.
This guide shows how SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) has been expanded from VML (Vector Markup Language). It includes: discussions comparing the 12 key architectural components of both vector markup languages; working code examples; line-by-line code annotations; screen shots; and a short JavaScript animation program using DOM scripting that has been converted from VML to SVG.

To view this guide, you will need to have a viewer for either XPS (XML Paper Specification) or PDF (Portable Document Format). Support for XPS files is included in Windows 7 and Windows Vista. A viewer for PDF files can be obtained from the Adobe website.
