Microsoft Emulator is a desktop application that emulates a Windows 10 Mobile device when used in conjunction with Visual Studio 2015 Preview. It provides a virtualized environment in which you can debug and test universal apps without a physical device. It also provides an isolated environment for your application prototypes.
Microsoft Emulator for Windows 10 Mobile is a pre-released version of the next major release of the emulator. This preview provides early adopters with an opportunity to try out the new and improved emulator and OS features. What’s new in the Microsoft Emulator for Windows 10 Mobile In addition to providing support for Universal Windows Platform (UWP) applications the emulator has added the following functionality: • NFC Support. The emulator allows you to simulate NFC and make it possible to test and develop NFC/Proximity-enabled universal apps. • Mouse input mode support to differentiate between mouse and single touch input. System Requirements
Operating Systems: Windows 10 Tech Preview
Microsoft Emulator runs as a virtual machine on Hyper-V, the virtualization technology for Windows 10. To run the emulator, your computer must meet the following requirements. The Microsoft Emulator Setup configures the prerequisites for you silently when you install the emulator. If the setup succeeds in configuring the environment, the emulator simply works as expected. In some cases, you may have to enable these prerequisites manually. Your computer must meet the following requirements: BIOS In the BIOS, the following features must be supported and enabled: • Hardware-assisted virtualization. • Second Level Address Translation (SLAT). • Hardware-based Data Execution Prevention (DEP). RAM 4 GB or more. Installation Instructions
Ensure that you have Visual Studio 2015 RC or later installed. Click the Download button for EmulatorSetup.exe and then select the option to Run and follow the instructions that appear.
