Legacy Update: Get back online, activate, and install updates on your legacy Windows PC

This is a release candidate (RC) for Visual Studio 2013.5. These cumulative updates to Visual Studio 2013 include a variety of bug fixes and capability improvements. For more information, see the Visual Studio Release Notes and the Visual Studio Update KB Article.

Visual Studio 2013 Updates provide continuous value to customers, adding new capabilities year-round to features in the main product release. These releases will be aligned with the core software development trends in the market, ensuring developers and development teams always have access to the best solution for building modern applications.

Note:
The Visual Studio 2013.5 RC products offered on this page are “go-live”. This means that customers can use these builds in production environments. These are still pre-releases, so there may be some bugs that will be fixed for the final release. Upgrade from Update 5 RC to Update 5 RTM is supported. In order to upgrade to future releases, the customer must first upgrade from Update 5 RC to Update 5 RTM.

If your computer meets the operating system requirements but does not meet the hardware requirements for the Windows Phone emulators, the Windows Phone development tools will install and run, but the Windows Phone 8.0 and 8.1 emulators will not work. However, you can still test your Windows Phone apps on actual devices.

Install over the Internet:

• On this page, choose the Download button.
• Select the .exe option and then choose the Next button.
• To install now, choose the Run button.
• To download an installer that you can run later, choose the Save button. (When you install, the computer must be connected to the Internet.)
