SQL Server Migration Assistant (SSMA) is a free supported tool from Microsoft that simplifies database migration process from DB2 to SQL Server and Azure SQL DB. SSMA automates all aspects of migration including migration assessment analysis, schema and SQL statement conversion and data migration.

This download includes a GUI client based application to manage migration process. The GUI client will install functionalities in SQL Server or Azure SQL DB to emulate DB2 features not natively supported in SQL server or Azure SQL DB.

SSMA for DB2 v6.0 is designed to support migration fromDB2 on z/OS versions 9.0 and 10.0 and DB2 on Linux/Unix/Windows (LUW) versions 9.8 and 10.1 to SQL Server 2012, SQL Server 2014 and Azure SQL DB.

Requirements for the SSMA for DB2 client:

• Microsoft Windows Installer 3.1 or a later version.
• The Microsoft .NET Framework version 4.0 or a later version. You can obtain it from the .NET Framework Developer Center.
• The Microsoft OLEDB Provider for DB2 version 5. You can obtain the 32 bit and 64 bit versions of the provider as part of the Microsoft® SQL Server® 2014 Feature Pack here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=42295
• Access to and sufficient permissions on the computer that hosts the target instance of SQL Server.
• 4 GB RAM.

Installing the SSMA for DB2 Client

1. Double-click SSMA for Db2.6.0.0.exe.
2. On the 'Welcome' page, click Next.
3. If you do not have the prerequisites installed, a message will appear that indicates that you must first install required components. Make sure that you have installed all prerequisites, and then run the installation program again.
4. Read the End User License Agreement. If you agree to the terms, select "I accept the agreement" option and click Next.
5. On the 'Choose Setup Type' page, click Typical.
6. Click Install.
