Legacy Update: Get back online, activate, and install updates on your legacy Windows PC

These files will enable you to update your Windows Embedded Compact 2013 installation to include the latest fixes and enhancements as of December 31, 2019.

• Due to Security requirements, WEC2013 installers prior to Update 33 (June 2016) will no longer be able to update to the latest version. i.e. you must use an installer from Update 33 or later to obtain the latest version.

  Required hardware
  Your computer must meet the following hardware requirements:
  • 100 GB (NTFS) of available hard disk space
  • 2.4 GHz processor
  • 5400 RPM hard drive
  • 2 GB of RAM
  • A DirectX 9-capable video card running at 1024 x 768 or higher display resolution
  • An optical drive that supports DVD

• 1. Installing WEC2013 clean using an installer prior to Update 33 (June 2016)
  • Install WEC2013 prior to Update 33 with the desired options
  • Once the installation has completed, obtain the Update33 (or later) installer from MOO, MyOEM or the Download Center
  • Launch the obtained installer and it will update as normal to that version level
  • Once the update has completed, subsequent updates (if any) will be detected as normal by the installer
  2. Updating WEC2013 prior to Update 33
  • Download the most recent installer from MOO, MyOEM or the Download Center
  • Launch “WindowsEmbeddedCompact2013.exe”
  • This will start an update installation, proceed with the update installation
  3. Updating WEC2013 with Update 33 or later
  • Go to the update option from “Add or Remove programs” and select “Update” to successfully check, recognize and download any new available updates
  Prior Install Notes:
  • Download and run WindowsEmbeddedCompact2013_Update38.exe to update your Windows Embedded Compact 2013 installation up to Dec 31, 2016.  You can roll back to an earlier update.
  • Or download and run WindowsEmbeddedCompact2013.exe to update your Windows Embedded Compact 2013 installation post Dec 31, 2016.  Note - Once you run this update, you won’t be able to roll back your Windows Embedded Compact 2013 installation prior or to Update 38.
  • Download and open the readme file for a description of the included updates.
  As of Dec 2014, it is anticipated that when monthly updates are applicable, they will generally be available in the later half of each month.
  
  When a new update becomes available, the following will be updated
  • The files on this page, the helpfile will have a new name but the executable filename will remain the same.
  • The Version will be incremented, this corresponds to the version of the executable file.
  • The Effective (as of) date in the summary description
