Operating Systems: Windows Server 2012, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows 7 Service Pack 1, Windows 8

  • Windows XP SP2 or a later version, or Windows Server 2003 SP1 or a later version.
  • Microsoft Windows Installer 3.1 or a later version.
  • The Microsoft .NET Framework version 2.0 or a later version.
  • The .NET Framework version 2.0 is available on the SQL Server 2005 product disc, and from the .NET Framework Developer Center Web site.
  • The J# 2.0 redistributable package, which is also available from the .NET Framework Developer Center Web site.
  • The ability to access the computer that hosts the target instance of SQL Server 2005.
  • At least 1 GB RAM.

Installation Instructions

Follow the steps below to update the license for the SQL Server Migration Assistant 5.2

  1. Click the download button on the page and you will be presented with license files for different providers
  2. Check the file for the provider you are using and click Next
  3. Download the license key to your hard disk.
  4. Place the license key file into SSMA installation directory (by default, C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server Migration Assistant) and
  5. Click Refresh License in SQL Server Migration Assistant.
