This Configuration Pack provides a baseline for the Desired Configuration Management (DCM) Configuration Pack derived from the Best Practices Analyzer (BPA) for computers running SQL Server 2008 R2.

System Requirements

Operating Systems: Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1

  • Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 running on a computer with SQL Server 2008 R2 installed.
  • System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R3

  • Note: This Configuration Pack does not work on a server running Windows Server 2008 R2.

Installation Instructions

  1. Click the Download button to start downloading the Configuration Pack .msi file.
  2. Double-click the .msi file to launch the installation and then complete the installation wizard pages.
  3. 3. Remember the location of the installation folder (the default folder location is %ProgramFiles(x86)%\Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 BPA Configuration Pack)
  4. 4. Read the BPA DCM Configuration Pack User Guide (a Word document in the installation folder) and follow the instructions in this guide to deploy the System Center Best Practices Analyzer Extension on the target computers running SQL Server 2008 R2.
  5. Note: To complete this step, use the second .msi file (SystemCenterConfigurationManagerBPAExtension.msi) located in in the same installation folder.
  6. 5. Import the BPA DCM configuration packs (the .cab files in the installation folder) into System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R3, and then assign the imported baselines to the target computers running SQL Server 2008 R2.
