The .Net Framework 1.1 is now available for Windows XP Embedded with Service Pack 1 runtimes. For more information on .Net technologies or the .Net Framework, please consult the .Net Framework home page.

The .Net Framework 1.1 component is an upgrade from the existing .Net Frameworkin Windows XP Embedded with SP1. You cannot install both the original and thenew versions on the same runtime. If you need to continue using the .NetFramework 1.0 on your device, you must remove the .Net Framework 1.1 packageusing Component Database Manager:

1. Open Component Database Manager.
2. Click the Packages tab.
3. Locate and click on the package titled .NET Framework 1.1 Package - Q831558
4. Click Delete.
5. Click OK.

If you're using ASP.net feature in the runtime, the WWW Service needs to bestarted for ASP.Net to work. You can either start the service via the IIS MMCsnap-in or via a command line entry, such as:

     NET START "World Wide Web Publishing Service"

To use a Japanese localized version of the .Net Framework 1.1 on your embeddeddevice, you must manually add the .NET Framework 1.1 JPN Language Pack - HotfixQ831558 component to your runtime.

Important: This QFE requires Repository look-up may cause incorrect files to be copied (Q811279) be installed prior to this fix.

1. Download Q831558_XPE_SP2_x86_ENU.exe from this page.
2. Execute Q831558_XPE_SP2_x86_ENU.exe on a machine with the Windows XP Embedded with Service Pack 1 tools installed.

This package will automatically import updated and new .sld files into the current database specified in Component Database Manager. It will also copy new binaries into the Windows XP Embedded with Service Pack 1 QFE Repository folder.

Some of the .sld files may also require importing new repository objects. The new repositories will be created on the repository root holding the main Windows XP Embedded with Service Pack 1 repository. After importing this update into your database, add one of the following components to your configuration(s) if you wish to use this update:
