Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition Server Tools installs the SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition Replication Components on the IIS box. The components are required for connecting the SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition database on a mobile device or a desktop or a tablet PC to a SQL Server database that are SQL Server 2000 SP3a, SQL Server 2000 SP4, SQL Server 2005, SQL Server 2005 SP1, or SQL Server 2005 SP2 database.

Installation Instructions

Important:

SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition supports synchronization with SQL Server 2000 SP3a, SQL Server 2000 SP4, SQL Server 2005, SQL Server 2005 SP1 and SQL Server 2005 SP2. For synchronizing with SQL Server database, the SQL Server Replication Components need to be installed on the machine running the IIS Server. Note that there is no need to install the SQL Server Replication Components, if the SQL Server and the IIS Server are installed on the same machine, and the SQL Server has been installed with the Replication Components.
