Internal and external threats must be taken into consideration, and the solution to these threats must balance the need for security with the functionality a midsized business demands from their network resources.

This paper discusses the nature of these accounts, how to identify them, how to determine the appropriate permissions that they require to function, and how to mitigate the risks inherent in elevated service accounts and administrator level accounts.
