This component update installs the Windows Media® Player 10 components, enabling you build Windows XP Embedded runtimes that include Windows Media® Player 10. There is also support for localization of Windows Media® Player 10.

This component update also disables the Windows Media® Player 8 Technologies component by setting it to end of life (for more information on end of life components, please read the Windows XP Embedded help documents on End of Life components).

IMPORTANT: If you install this feature update, Windows Media® Player 8 Technologies component will no longer be available, and configurations that include it will not build without upgrading to Windows Media® Player 10. If you still require the Windows Media® Player 8 Technologies component, DO NOT INSTALL THIS FEATURE UPDATE.

1. Download KB907507_XPE_SP3_x86_ENU.exe from this page.
2. Execute KB907507_XPE_SP3_x86_ENU.exe on a machine with the Windows XP Embedded with Service Pack 2 tools installed.

If you require localized support for Windows Media Player 10:

1. Change the language of this page to the language you wish to support.
2. Download KB907507_XPE_SP3_x86_MUI.exe from the top of this page.
3. Execute KB907507_XPE_SP3_x86_MUI.exe on a machine with the Windows XP Embedded with Service Pack 2 tools installed.

These packages will automatically import updated and new .sld files into the current database specified in Component Database Manager. They will also copy new binaries into the Windows XP Embedded with Service Pack 2 QFE Repository folder.

Some of the .sld files may also require importing new repository objects. The new repositories will be created on the repository root holding the main Windows XP Embedded with Service Pack 2 repository. For information on moving repositories to other locations, see Moving a Repository in your Windows Embedded Studio documentation.
