MIIS 2003 Security Considerations Guide |
This document discusses potential threats to each component of an MIIS 2003 infrastructure and makes recommendations on how to mitigate those threats or refers the reader to additional documentation detailing the specific solutions available.
Your MIIS 2003 deployment is only as secure as the least secure component of its infrastructure. MIIS collects identity-related data from a variety of data sources and aggregates that data into a single database. This MIIS database is a single, authoritative source for the data and is a central point of administration. While this centralized collection and aggregation makes it possible for MIIS 2003 to present a single, complete, and authoritative view of each identity, it also concentrates some of the most sensitive data on your network into a single location. The broad, authoritative reach of MIIS 2003 and the sensitive nature of the data being managed, makes it imperative that you understand the potential security issues that can arise when you deploy MIIS 2003 and have a good security plan in place to deal with those issues.
