The Outlook 2007 Add-in Templates provide a basic template for developing Outlook 2007 add-ins using Visual Studio 2005. The templates are available in both Visual Basic and Visual C# languages. Each template includes the OutlookItem class, which enables developers to work with generic Outlook items through late-binding, without determining the item type first.
The templates also include wrapper classes that enable you to track multiple Outlook Inspector or Explorer windows. The templates provide an alternative to the Outlook add-in templates available with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Tools for the 2007 Office system (VSTO 2005 Second Edition). VSTO 2005 SE is the preferred tool for developing add-ins for Outlook 2007. If you choose to build your add-in by using the Outlook 2007 Add-In Templates, you must add a COM Shim project and a Setup project to your add-in solution.

To install this download:

1. Download the file by clicking the Download link (above) and saving the file to your hard disk.
2. Double-click the OutlookAddinTemplates.msi program file on your hard disk to start the setup program.
3. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation.

Visual C# and Visual Basic versions of the template are installed to the Visual Studio 2005 templates folder.

Instructions for use:

1. Close Outlook 2007.
2. Open Visual Studio 2005.
3. On the File menu, click New, then click Project.
4. In the Project types tree, click either Visual Basic or Visual C#, depending on your language preference.
5. Under the My Templates header, select Office Outlook 2007 Add-in.
6. Customize the project name as necessary, then click OK.

The template does not configure Outlook as the default action for running the project. To modify the project to run Outlook when debugging the project, open Solution Explorer and select SolutionName. Then open the Project menu, select SolutionName Properties, select the Debug tab, and then under Start Action select the Start External Program option. Click Browse (...) and then select Outlook.exe in the following folder: Drive:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12

To remove this download:

1. On the Start menu, point to Settings and then click Control Panel.
2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
3. In the list of currently installed programs, select Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 Add-in Templates.
4. Click Remove, and then click Yes to confirm that you want to remove the program.
