Legacy Update: Get back online, activate, and install updates on your legacy Windows PC

This add-on provides Visual Studio 2005 Team Suite users with the additional functionality provided by Visual Studio 2005 Team Edition for Database Professionals. Visual Studio 2005 Team Suite is required to use this add-on. If you do not currently own Visual Studio 2005 Team Suite Edition but would like to evaluate Visual Studio 2005 Team Edition for Database Professionals in a trial mode, you may do so by first installing the Visual Studio 2005 Team Suite Trial Edition and then installing this add-on which will function until the Team Suite trial period expires.

Note that if you currently have another edition of Visual Studio 2005 (e.g. Visual Studio 2005 Professional Edition) and you wish to install Visual Studio 2005 Team Suite Trial Edition there is no need to first uninstall your existing edition of Visual Studio 2005. The two editions can exist side-by-side, and in the event that you decide to uninstall the Team Suite Trial Edition and Database Professionals Add-on then your original edition of Visual Studio will continue to function.

System requirements
Requirements vary for different combinations of components within Microsoft® Visual Studio® 2005 Team Edition for Database Professionals. To install Visual Studio 2005 Team Edition for Database Professionals, we recommend:

•Computer with a 2.0 ghz or faster processor
•512 MB of RAM or more (1 gigabyte (GB) or more recommended)
•3 GB of available hard-disk space
•DVD-ROM drive
•1024x768 or higher-resolution display with 256 colors
•Keyboard and Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device

To install this software you must have Visual Studio 2005 Team Suite installed (retail or trial edition) on your machine. If you are using the Trial Edition of Visual Studio 2005 Team Suite, the Database Professionals functionality will also expire when the Team Suite Trial Edition expires. If you do not already have Team Suite, a link to the trial edition of Team Suite is in the related resources list.

To install the add-on, first download and run the .EXE file which will extract the installation files. Then run Setup.exe. An optional .ISO image is also supplied for the convenience of burning an installation CD or DVD.

You must also have a SQL Server 2005 instance (Developer, Enterprise, Express, or Evaluation edition) installed. If you do not have SQL Server 2005, you can download the trial edition of SQL Server 2005 or download SQL Server 2005 Express Edition for free.

The Visual Studio Team Edition for Database Professionals documentation is available online via the MSDN Library or can be installed locally by installing the December 2006 (or newer) release of the MSDN Library.
