Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) 2003 SP3 Client.msi and .msp rollup of fixes |
This release addresses a number of Microsoft SMS 2003 SP3 client side fixes. A Brief explanation of these issues is included in the Overview section.
In this release, Microsoft is providing 2 possible downloads. For customers who have not deployed SMS2003 SP3, they should download the new client.msi. For customers who want to upgrade the current SMS2003 SP3 Client, they could install the msp patch. This release contains collection of hotfixes that affect the Microsoft Systems Management Server 2003 SP3 client side fixes. Please refer to the Knowledge Base Article: 941395 to get a full description of the installation and issue symptoms.
Below is a short summary of each fix. The first fix applies to English version only :
1) SP3 Inventory causing 100% CPU issues
2) Incorrect Scheduling of Advertisements
3) Hardware Inventory Failing on Windows Vista Clients
4) Win32Reg_AddRemovePrograms & Win32Reg_AddRemovePrograms64 return the same results on 32-bit clients.
5) Sales Channel should be using a combination of data from ProductID and DigitalProductID
6) Inventory counts are not accurate in License 1A - License 1B: multiple components with the same MPC should be reported as one product
7) License 1A - License 1B: SQL 2000 Enterprise Manager and Books Online are erroneously reported as "SQL Server"
8) The Installed Software class is generating Software code for Windows OS incorrectly

System Requirements
Operating Systems: Windows 2000 Service Pack 4, Windows Server 2003
All SMS 2003 Service Pack 3 site system roles are supported only on systems running Microsoft® Windows® 2000 SP4 or later, or Microsoft Windows® Server 2003.
Internet Information Services (IIS) must be installed as part of the Windows Server installation for certain SMS site system roles.
SQL Server 7.0 SP4, SQL Server 2000 SP3a or later, or SQL Server 2005 or later can be used to host the SMS database for SMS 2003 SP3
