The Group Policy Preference Migration Tool (GPPMIG) is a console application designed to migrate PolicyMaker items to Group Policy preference items in the same or a different Group Policy object (GPO).

For users of PolicyMaker Standard Edition 2.x and PolicyMaker Share Manager, the Group Policy Preference Migration Tool (GPPMIG) is a console application designed to migrate PolicyMaker items to Group Policy preference items in the same or a different Group Policy object (GPO). Migration is necessary because PolicyMaker extensions can only edit PolicyMaker items, and Windows Server 2008 and the Remote Server Administration Tools (RSAT) for Windows Vista with Service Pack 1 can only edit preference items. Also, PolicyMaker client-side extensions (CSEs) only process PolicyMaker items, and Group Policy preference CSEs only process preference items. GPPMIG does not migrate PolicyMaker Application items or Mail Profile items because Group Policy Preferences do not included client-side extensions for these item types.
For information about how to use GPPMIG, see article 959963 in the Microsoft Knowledge Base, How to Migrate PolicyMaker Items to Group Policy Preference Items Using the Group Policy Preference Migration Tool (GPPMIG), at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=155092.
