Legacy Update: Get back online, activate, and install updates on your legacy Windows PC

The SQL Server Critical Update Wizard will scan Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and MSDE 2000 to help detect instances vulnerable to the "Slammer" worm, and will attempt to update the affected files.

• The SQL Server Critical Update Wizard will update editions of Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and MSDE 2000 that are vulnerable to the Slammer worm. All versions of the SQL Server 2000 Evaluation Edition can also be updated with the SQL Critical Update Wizard. However, the Evaluation Edition can not be updated using SP3. MSDE 2000 ships with several Microsoft products, including Office XP. For a complete list of products that ship MSDE 2000, visit the Microsoft Products that include MSDE 2000 Web page.
  
  The SQL Critical Update Wizard was developed specifically for the home and small business user, though enterprise customers may also download and deploy the wizard to their internal customers. The SQL Critical Update Wizard will walk you through the steps of detecting a vulnerability to Slammer and updating the affected files. SQL Critical Update Wizard runs on Windows® 98, Windows ME, Windows NT® 4.0, Windows 2000 and Windows XP. Please see Knowledge Base Article: 814372 for more information about this wizard.
