IronPython integration with ASP.NET and Visual Studio (including Visual Web Developer).

This package provides IronPython integration with ASP.NET and Visual Studio (including Visual Web Developer Express Edition). This allows you to write ASP.NET pages (both inline code and code-behind files) as well as common classes using IronPython. (The infrastructure is extensible to allow other dynamic languages to plug in as well.) The framework also includes design-time support for creating IronPython projects and pages in Visual Studio, with syntax coloring and debugging support.

Important: An updated version of IronPython for ASP.NET is available as part of ASP.NET Futures (May 2007).

Installation Instructions


Important:

Make sure you have the latest service pack and critical updates for the version of Windows that you are running. To find recent security updates, visit the Windows Update Web site.

  1. Click the Download button on this page to start the download.


  2. Do one of the following:


  • To start the installation immediately, click Run.

  • To save the download to your computer for installation at a later time, click Save.

  • To cancel the installation, click Cancel.


  • Follow the setup program and choose the component for your machine:


    • If you have Visual Studio 2005 installed, choose "Visual Studio Integration".

    • If you have Visual Web Developer 2005 Express Edition installed, choose "Visual Web Developer Integration".

    • If you do not have either of the above visual designers, choose "Web Application Template", which downloads the required files to your installation location.


  • If your computer does not have the required ASP.NET fix for IronPython integration, you will be prompted to install .NET Framework 2.0 hotfix (KB927128) at the end of the installation process. You must upgrade your system to be able to run IronPython for ASP.NET.


  • If you plan to use IIS, map the .py extension to the ASP.NET ISAPI DLL (in the way the .aspx extension is mapped) using the IIS management tool. Alternatively, run AddPyScriptMap.vbs script from the installation location.
