The Microsoft .NET Framework Client Profile Online Installer contains the .NET Framework assemblies needed for the installation and distribution of .NET Framework Client Profile over an internet connection.

  The .NET Framework Client Profile Online Installer will enable developers to create a deployment experience for users that are able to install their applications over the internet. The download package contains the .NET Framework Client Profile web installer. Once downloaded, the web installer will then will download the needed components from the internet. If the platform on which the end-user is installing the Client Profile, is not directly supported, the full .NET Framework will be installed.   .NET Framework development tools like Visual Studio, will not function on .NET Framework Client Profile. Developers will need to install full .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1.

• Important: Make sure you have the latest service pack and critical updates for the version of Windows on the computer. To look for recent updates, visit Windows Update.
