This tool for Dynamics CRM captures metadata and configuration details for on-premises organizations that are migrating to a Dynamics 365 solution.

Customers of Dynamics CRM (on-premises) can use this tool to capture relevant configuration details about their environment, information that is used most commonly for cloud migrations. Customers can then make the results available to delivery partners that can then evaluate the current configuration and environment without having direct access to the original environment.

Microsoft .NET Framework 4.6.1 or newer

1. Download the assessment tool from the shared location.
2. Before unzipping the tool, right-click the Dynamics_CRM_Platform_Assessment_Tool.zip file and choose Unblock in the file properties.
3. Unzip the file to a location that will allow you to browse to the computer that is running SQL Server where your CRM database resides.
4. Right-click Microsoft.Crm.PlatformAssessment.exe located within the Assessment Tool folder and choose Run as Administrator.
5. Select Collect Data
6. Enter the name of your production computer that is running SQL Server for CRM, and then select Browse to locate your production CRM database. Enter credentials as needed.
7. Select Export
8. The tool will run for a few minutes and you will see a processing bar as we collect data. Once the data has been collected, a success message will appear. Select X in the upper right corner to close the tool.
9. Refresh the folder contents of the Assessment Tool folder and look for AssessmentOutput_[databasename]_[datetime].zip. You can provide this file to your delivery partner for evaluation.
