Each item below indicates a short description of the package, and the audience(s) for which it was intended, as follows:
- Customer: An individual may want to install this for additional licensed functionality.
Partner: An ISV may want to ship this as a redistributable component as part of their application.
Developer: A programmer may want to install this to support application development.

Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Report Builder 3.0
Building on the value delivered in Report Builder 2.0, the November CTP of Report Builder 3.0 introduces new support for geospatial visualization (mapping, routing, custom shapes) which can help produce new insights and discoveries well beyond what can be achieved with standard tables and charts when geospatial data is combined with business information. Additionally, users will experience significant performance improvements with enhancements to the ability to use Report Builder in server mode. This allows for much faster report processing with caching of datasets on the report server when toggling between design and preview modes.

Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Reporting Services November CTP Add-in for Microsoft SharePoint Technologies 2010
- The Microsoft® SQL Server® 2008 R2 November CTP Reporting Services Add-in for Microsoft SharePoint® Technologies 2010 allows you to integrate your reporting environment with SharePoint to experience the benefits of using the collaborative environment provided by SharePoint. Once you install the Reporting Services Add-in and configure your servers for integration, you can publish Reporting Services content to a SharePoint library and then view and manage those documents directly from a SharePoint site.
- Multizone support. Use the alternate access mapping functionality in your SharePoint environment to access report server items from one or more SharePoint zones (default, internet, intranet, extranet, or custom). This is useful when you have a SharePoint environment that can be accessed by users from multiple zones
- SharePoint list support. Access SharePoint lists as data sources for building reports in Report Builder
- Ribbon user experience. Group reports in a more logical manner through the extension of the SharePoint ribbon, making content much easier to find

Microsoft SQL Server JDBC Driver 3.0
- In its continued commitment to interoperability, Microsoft has released a Java Database Connectivity (JDBC) driver for SQL Server. The SQL Server JDBC Driver 3.0 download is available to all SQL Server users at no additional charge, and provides access to SQL Server 2000, SQL Server 2005, SQL Server 2008, and SQL Server 2008R2 from any Java application, application server, or Java-enabled applet. This is a Type 4 JDBC driver that provides database connectivity through the standard JDBC application program interfaces (APIs) available in J2EE (Java2 Enterprise Edition).

- The SQL Server System CLR Types package contains the components implementing the geometry, geography, and hierarchy id types in SQL Server 2008 R2. This component can be installed separately from the server to allow client applications to use these types outside of the server.

SQL Server 2008 R2 Remote Blob Store
- The SQL Server Remote Blob Store is a method for storing blobs of unstructured data in an external Content Addressable data store. The component consists of a client-side DLL that is linked into a user application, as well as a set of stored procedures to be installed on SQL Server. Important Installing SQL Server 2008 R2 Books Online upgrades your existing SQL Server 2008 version of Books Online. If you upgrade, be aware that the content and help topics now describe tools and features of SQL Server 2008 R2. To reinstall SQL Server 2008 Books Online, you must first uninstall SQL Server 2008 R2 Books Online. Because SQL Server 2008 and SQL Server 2008 R2 share components, you cannot have side-by-side installations of Books Online on the same machine.

Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Native Client
- Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Native Client (SQL Server Native Client) is a single dynamic-link library (DLL) containing both the SQL OLE DB provider and SQL ODBC driver. It contains run-time support for applications using native-code APIs (ODBC, OLE DB and ADO) to connect to Microsoft SQL Server 2000, 2005, or 2008. SQL Server Native Client should be used to create new applications or enhance existing applications that need to take advantage of new SQL Server 2008 R2 features. This redistributable installer for SQL Server Native Client installs the client components needed during run time to take advantage of new SQL Server 2008 R2 features, and optionally installs the header files needed to develop an application that uses the SQL Server Native Client API.

Microsoft Core XML Services (MSXML) 6.0 SP 1
- Microsoft Core XML Services (MSXML) 6.0 SP 1is the latest version of the native XML processing stack. - The Microsoft OLE DB Provider for DB2 Version 3.0 offers a set of technologies and tools for integrating vital data stored in IBM DB2 databases with new solutions based on Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition and Developer Edition. SQL Server developers and administrators can use the data provider with Integration Services, Analysis Services, Replication, Reporting Services, and Distributed Query Processor. Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Command Line Utilities
- The SQLCMD utility allows users to connect to, send Transact-SQL batches from, and output rowset information from SQL Server 7.0, SQL Server 2000, SQL Server 2005, and SQL Server 2008 instances. The bcp utility bulk copies data between an instance of Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 and a data file in a user-specified format. The bcp utility can be used to import large numbers of new rows into SQL Server tables or to export data out of tables into data files.

Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Service Broker External Activator
- The Microsoft SQL Sql Server 2008 R2 Service Broker External Activator is distributed in the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Feature Pack. It is an extension of the Internal Activation feature in SQL Server 2008 R2 and lets you move the logic for receiving and processing Service Broker messages from the Database Engine service to an application executable that runs outside the Database Engine service. This can provide a higher level of scale-out performance by moving processing loads from the database server to another computer. The activation application process can also run under a different Windows account from the Database Engine process. This gives administrators additional control over the resources that the activation application can access. Run the self-extracting download package to create an installation folder. Microsoft Windows PowerShell Extensions for SQL Server 2008 R2
- The Microsoft Windows PowerShell Extensions for SQL Server2008 R2 includes a provider and a set of cmdlets that enable administrators and developers to build PowerShell scripts for managing instances of SQL Server. The SQL Server PowerShell Provider delivers a simple mechanism for navigating SQL Server instances that is similar to file system paths. PowerShell scripts can then use the SQL Server Management Objects to administer the instances. The SQL Server cmdlets support operations such as executing Transact-SQL scripts or evaluating SQL Server policies.
