The SCAP Extensions enable Configuration Manager to consume Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) data streams, assess systems for compliance, and generate report results in SCAP format by taking advantage of the capabilities in the compliance settings feature.

• The SCAP Extensions for Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager use the Compliance Settings feature in Configuration Manager to scan the computers in your environment and then document their level of compliance with the United States Government Configuration Baseline (USGCB) mandate.
  
  The extensions enable Configuration Manager to consume Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) data streams, assess systems for compliance, and generate report results in SCAP format. Now your organization can leverage its existing Configuration Manager infrastructure to ensure that the computers you manage meet this federal compliance requirement and generate the requisite USGCB reports for the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the U.S. Office of Management and Budget (OMB).
  
  The System Center Configuration Manager Extensions for SCAP includes the following components:
  
  • ConfigMgr_Extensions_for_SCAP.msi: This Microsoft Windows Installer (.msi) file includes the command-line tools that you use to convert SCAP data files to Compliance Settings compliant .cab files and also convert Compliance Settings compliance data into SCAP formats.
  • SCAP Extensions for System Center Configuration Manager Release Notes.pdf: This document provides a change list and important notes.
  
  Note: This solution was formally validated as a SCAP 1.2 validated tool with Authenticated Configuration Scanner capability and Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) option by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) on August 28, 2015. • In addition to the computer running the SCAP Extensions, you will also need a supported System Center Configuration Manager infrastructure. The SCAP Extensions version 3.0 for System Center Configuration Manager supports:
  • System Center 2012 Configuration Manager SP2
  • System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager SP1
  • System Center Configuration Manager (current branch)

  The computers that you want to assess for SCAP compliance need the following software and configurations:
  • The Compliance and Settings Management component enabled on the Configuration Manager client.
  • Windows PowerShell 2.0 or higher. The Configuration Manager PowerShell execution policy set to “Bypass”. For more information refer to PowerShell execution policy.
  • Windows 7 release version or Sp1, 32-bit or 64-bit

• 1. Click the Download button next to the file you would like to download to start the download.
  2. Do one of the following:
  • To immediately start the .msi installation or open the document click Open, Run or Run this program from its current location. Then extract the files to your preferred location on your computer.
  • To save the download to your preferred location on your computer for use at a later time, click Save or Save this program to disk.
  
  To install the ConfigMgr_Extensions_for_SCAP.msi package
  
  1. Navigate to where you saved the file on your hard drive.
  2. To launch the installer, double-click the .msi file.
  3. To procede with installation, you must choose to accept the Microsoft Software License Terms.
  4. Follow the steps in the installation process to complete the installation.
  The SCAP Extensions for Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager Installation Wizard installs the extensions by default in the following location depending on the Windows operating system that you are running:
  • C:\ Program Files\SCAP Extensions\
  • C:\ Program Files (x86)\SCAP Extensions\ on x64 machines
