Adventure Works Cycles Database 2000 |
An enterprise class schema and sample data for a ficticious sporting goods manufacturer
- The purpose of the Adventure Works Cycles database is to demonstrate best practices for designing an integrated enterprise-class schema, and provide a sample database for that schema. This edition is designed to be used with Microsoft® SQL Server™ 2000. The Adventure Works Cycles Storefront 2000 sample application (distributed separately) is designed to use and requires this database. For installation instructions, review the readme.htm file in the directory you installed the database.
The database schema covers many functional areas for a fictitious bicycle manufacturer. These areas include:
*Customer/sales force automation and analysis
*Human resources
*Purchasing/Vendor Electronic Data Interchange
*External facing web site (Internet)
*Internal facing web site (Intranet)
*Manufacturing work flow
*Engineering document management
Future editions of the database will focus on features being released in Microsoft SQL Server “Yukon”. “Yukon” beta customers can look for updates on http://www.betaplace.com/. This database will form the basis of many new samples and documentation in the “Yukon” timeframe.
