The Clinical Trial Initiation reference implementation for Microsoft® Office 2003 contains sample code, templates, and guidelines that demonstrate the possibilities in using the Microsoft Office System to address critical business issues.
- Targeted at developers and IT implementers, this download of sample code, templates, and guidelines is intended to demonstrate technically one possibility of implementing a solution to expedite the creation of clinical trial protocol documents by using the Microsoft Office System. The content provided with the reference implementation illustrates how to use XML-based Microsoft Word smart documents to manage the creation of complex documents and re-use existing content from a Microsoft Windows® SharePoint® Services document library.

Installation Instructions
- To download and install the Clinical Trial Initiation reference implementation for Microsoft Office 2003 (CTIRIMO1.0.exe):
- In the Files in this Download section at the bottom of this page, click CTIRIMO1.0.exe.
- Do one of the following:
- To start the extraction immediately, click Open or Run this program from its current location.
- To copy the file to your computer for extraction at a later time, click Save or Save this program to disk.
- In the installation wizard, follow the setup instructions. This will install the source code and setup files to your computer. Refer to the Clinical Trial Initiation reference implementation for Microsoft Office 2003 Guide, Chapter 3, Installing and Configuring your Development Environment, for complete details on installing the reference implementation in your development environment.
- In the Files in this Download section at the bottom of this page, click CTIRIMO1.0_Guide.exe.
- Do one of the following:
- To start the extraction immediately, click Open or Run this program from its current location and specify an extraction location on your computer.
- To copy the file to your computer for extraction at a later time, click Save or Save this program to disk and specify a location to save the file on your computer. Double-click the file to extract the reference implementation guide.
- In the WinZip Self-Extractor dialog box, specify the folder to which you want to extract the files, and then click Unzip.
- After the file is extracted, to open the file in Microsoft Word, double-click CTIRIMO1.0_Guide.doc.
- To remove the installed files, follow the instructions in the Clinical Trial Initiation reference implementation for Microsoft Office 2003 Guide, Chapter 3 Installing and Configuring your Development Environment.
- Delete CTIRIMO1.0_Guide.doc and CTIRIMO1.0_Guide.exe from C:\CTIRIMO\Guide or the folder where you saved the guide.
