Project 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2) provides the latest updates to Microsoft Office Project 2003.
Microsoft® Office Project 2003 Service Pack 2 contains significant security enhancements, in addition to stability and performance improvements. Some of the fixes included with SP2 have been previously released as separate updates. This service pack combines them into one update.
This service pack also includes updates previously released for Project 2003:
- Project 2003 Service Pack 1
- Project 2003 Security Update: KB838344
- Update for Project 2003 French Spelling Checker: KB892262
Project 2003 SP2 will install even if previous updates or service packs have already been installed on your computer.
Project 2003 SP2 also includes stability improvements developed as a result of user input from the Microsoft Online Crash Analysis in Project 2003 and from Microsoft Product Support feedback.

Office Communicator 2005 and Project 2003 SP2
If you are using Office Communicator 2005, you should exit Office Communicator by right-clicking on the Communicator icon in the system tray and choosing "Exit" prior to installing Project 2003 SP2. If you do not exit Communicator, you will be required to
reboot your computer after Project 2003 SP2 has been installed. For more information, see the Microsoft Knowledge Base article (905726):
You are prompted to restart the computer when you install an update to the Mso.dll file on a computer that is running Microsoft Office Communicator.

To install when using a Project 2003 Multilingual User Interface Pack

Operating Systems: Windows XP Service Pack 1, Windows Server 2003, Windows 2000 Service Pack 3
- This update applies to the following programs:
- Microsoft® Office Project Professional 2003
- Microsoft® Office Project Standard 2003
- Microsoft Windows Installer: If you have Windows Installer version 3.0 you will need to upgrade to Windows Installer version 3.1. For more information, see the article (906323): The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the windows installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program" error message when you install Office 2003 Service Pack 2, or Setup does not finish and you receive no notification.

Installation instructions
If you have Microsoft Office Project 2003 installed, do one of the following:
- Use the Microsoft Update or Office Update detection web sites (recommended). Both sites automatically detect Office and prompt you to install updates and service packs that bring Office programs up-to-date.
- Install only Project 2003 Service Pack 2. To do this, follow these steps:
- Download the .exe file by using the button at the top of the page, and then save the file to your hard disk drive.
- It is recommended that you quit any programs you are running.
- In Windows Explorer, double-click the .exe file that you saved to your hard disk drive, and follow the instructions on the screen.
Instructions for use:
After you install this update, use Project as you typically would.

There is no uninstall feature for this download. For more information, see the Microsoft Knowledge Base article (873125):
You cannot remove service packs for Office 2003 products.
