The Best Practices Analyzer is installed alongside the FSOCS administrative console and can query configuration settings on both local and remote server installations. The Best Practices Analyzer does not modify any configuration settings, rather, it alerts the administrator to potential configuration issues and provides guidance on managing gaps in configuration best practices.

  The Microsoft Forefront Security for Office Communications Server Best Practices Analyzer supports the version 10 release of Microsoft Forefront Security for Office Communications Server which secures Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 and 2007 R2.The tool cannot be installed on a server that does not already have either the full installation or administrative console installation of FSOCS.

• InstructionsTo install this download:
  1. Download the file by clicking the Download button and saving the file to your hard disk.
  2. Double click the bpasetup.msi program file on your hard disk to start the Setup program.
  3. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation.
  • By default, the program files will be installed at < system drive >\Program Files\Microsoft Forefront Security\Office Communications Server 10 Best Practices Analyzer.
  • Once the Microsoft Forefront Security for Office Communications Server Best Practices Analyzer has been installed, refer to the Help Contents for additional information on using this tool.
  To uninstall this download:
  1. Ensure the Microsoft Forefront Security for Office Communications Server Best Practices Analyzer is not running.
  2. Click Start and open the Control Panel.
  3. In Windows XP and Windows 2000
  • Double-click Change or Remove Programs.
  4. In Windows 2003
  • Double-click Add or Remove Programs.
  5. In Windows Vista
  • Click on Programs…Uninstall a program.
  6. Select the “Microsoft Forefront Security for OCS (Version 10) Best Practices Analyzer" application to uninstall.
