The Microsoft Speech Server Spanish (United States) Language Pack Version 1.1 supports the development and deployment of U.S. Spanish language speech-enabled Web applications in a Microsoft Speech Server 2004 R2 (MSS) environment.

Microsoft Speech Server Language Packs include engine resources, support files, and documentation that developers can use to develop and deploy MSS speech applications in languages other than U.S. English (the default language for MSS).

To develop and debug speech-enabled Web applications in Spanish (United States), install the Microsoft Speech Server Spanish (United States) Language Pack on a computer that already has an installation of either Microsoft Speech Application SDK (SASDK) Version 1.1 or Microsoft ASP.NET Speech Controls (Speech Controls) Version 1.1. The Language Pack Setup Wizard lists the language support files that will be installed, and then it installs those files.

To deploy speech-enabled Web applications in Spanish (United States), install the Microsoft Speech Server Spanish (United States) Language Pack on each computer in an MSS environment that is running Speech Engine Services (SES). The Language Pack Setup Wizard detects which products are installed, lists the language support files that will be installed, and then it installs those files. Depending on how MSS is configured, the Setup Wizard may install any of the following files:

• Speech recognition and text-to-speech (TTS) resources.
• Language support files for MSS (including a language-specific grammar library).
• Language support files for the SASDK Tools.
• Language-specific documentation for the SASDK.
• Language support files for Speech Controls.

• Service Pack 1 or later for Windows Server 2003, and Service Pack 2 or later for Windows XP Professional
• Microsoft SASDK 1.1 or ASP.NET Speech Controls 1.1 (for developing and debugging speech-enabled Web applications using the language pack)
• MSS R2 (for deploying speech-enabled Web applications developed using the language pack to an MSS environment)
• 122 megabytes (MB) of RAM in addition to the 256 MB required by SASDK
• 515 MB of free disk space in addition to the 500 MB required by SASDK

Install all available service packs and critical updates from Windows Update prior to running setup for the Microsoft Speech Server Language Pack.

Before downloading the Microsoft Speech Server Spanish (United States) Language Pack, create a temporary directory on your computer with at least 1.5 gigabytes (GB) of free space; for example, C:\LangPack_ES-US. The directory name should not contain spaces.

High Bandwidth Download Instructions
To download the files required for installing the Microsoft Speech Server Spanish (United States) Language Pack in one step, click the file, LangPack_ES-US_FULL.exe, and save it to your computer. When the file has been downloaded successfully, double-click it to extract its contents to the temporary directory you created.

Low Bandwidth Download Instructions
Because of the size of the full download, you might want to download the Microsoft Speech Server Language Pack in separate files that can be extracted after they are saved to your computer. To do this, click the links and save all the LangPack_ES-US_Part#.cab files to the temporary directory you created (C:\LangPack_ES-US) and then follow steps 1 through 3.

1. Click the link to save the self-extracting executable LangPack_es-us_Extract.exe to your computer.
   
   
2. Double-click LangPack_es-us_Extract.exe to extract its contents to the temporary directory you created (C:\LangPack_ES-US).
   
   
3. Use the cd command at a command prompt (click Start, click Run, type cmd in the Open box, and then click OK) to navigate to the temporary directory you created. For example, type the following at a command prompt.
   
        cd C:\LangPack_ES-US
   
   
4. Run LangPack_ES-US_ExtractAll.cmd to create the full image from the .cab files. Place the full image in a new installation directory. For example, type the following at a command prompt to put the full image into a new directory named C:\LangPack_ES-US\Setup.
   
        LangPack_ES-US_ExtractAll.cmd C:\LangPack_ES-US\Setup
