Legacy Update: Get back online, activate, and install updates on your legacy Windows PC

Even if you don't have Word on your computer, you can open Word documents as long as you have Word Viewer. In this demo, a Microsoft employee who uses Word himself shows how you and your colleagues can download Word Viewer and the Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats. With these two downloads, you can open, print, or copy and paste from Word documents, without having to install Word on your computer.

1. Download the file by clicking the Download button (above) and saving the file to your hard disk.
2. Double-click the Wd2007DemoUseWordViewer.EXE program file on your hard disk to start the Setup program.
3. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation.

Double-click the Wd_WordViewer.wmv file to start the demo.

To uninstall this download:

Delete the .exe and extracted .wmv files from your hard drive.
