Azure Storage Mover Agent |
The Azure Storage Mover agent enables the migration of files and folders into Azure Storage.
Azure Storage Mover enables organizations to efficiently migrate:
- SMB file share to Azure Files SMB Share
- SMB file share to Azure Blob Containers
- SMB file share to Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 (HNS)
- NFS file share to Azure Files NFS4 Share
- NFS file share to Azure Blob Containers
- NFS file share to Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 (HNS)
- Convenient tracking and reporting for large scale migrations
- Minimize downtime of your workloads through repeated source/target migrations
The Azure Storage Mover agent is a Linux appliance in the form of a VM image for Windows Hyper-V and VMware hypervisors.

System Requirements
Operating Systems: Linux, Ubuntu
Recommended, minimal virtual machine configuration:
- virtual CPUs: 4
- RAM: 8 GB
- Disk Space: 20GB
VM resource requirements increase with the scale of a migration. Refer to the agent deployment guide for more details.This agent image is currently supported for running on a Windows Hyper-V and VMWare ESXi 6.7 hypervisor.
Installation Instructions
- Download and unpack the agent package.
- Create a new VM from the unpacked VM disk image.

You can now manage the agent and your migrations from the Azure portal and Azure PowerShell.
