The Azure Cost Estimator has been designed keeping in mind the need to provide the IT manager of next generation organizations the ability to quickly assess running cost of the existing on-premises workload on Azure.

About the tool

2. It recommends appropriate Azure instance to match the scanned workload
3. It also generates 31-day cost estimates of running such an Azure instance

7. Cost Estimates can be generated using Scan tool results
8. Support for IP Range Feature in the Scan Your Environment Functionality
9. Import and Export functionality in "Scenarios"

The tool can be installed on the following versions of the Windows Operating System:

1. Windows Server 2012 R2

7. Windows 7 SP1
8. Windows Vista SP2

The minimum configuration required for the tool installation is .NET 4.0 that can be download from http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=212547 and Windows Management framework 3.0 that can be downloaded from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=34595

Once installed this tool can be connected to the following machine types to profile on-premises infrastructure:

1. SCVMM (Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard, Windows Server 2012 Standard, Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard, Windows Server 2008 Standard)
2. Hyper-V (Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2008)

5. Windows Physical Machines (All Clients listed above, Windows Server 2003, Windows XP)
6. Linux Physical Machines (SSH and Keyboard authentication supported)

1. Download the installer “Microsoft Azure Cost Estimator”
2. Run the “Microsoft Azure Cost Estimator Tool.msi” that you have downloaded

In Control Panel/Programs/Uninstall a program/Uninstall or change a program, locate "Microsoft Azure Cost Estimator" and uninstall the tool.
